What happens after I sign my contract?
When you sign our customer contract and direct debit instruction we send your details to the MRSO for registration. ESB Networks will need to take a meter read. This can take up to 8 weeks. Once a meter read has been taken you will receive your final bill from your current supplier. You will then become an Energia customer.
Who reads my meter?
ESB networks is scheduled to read your meter every other month. They pass the information to Energia for billing purposes. These are known as 'actual reads’. Where energia don’t receive a meter reading from ESB Networks we will estimate your bill. If ESB networks cannot access your meter for whatever reason please contact Energia on 1850 36 37 44.

What do I do when I move premises?
When you are leaving an address we would ask you to take a final meter reading and agree it with the new tenant. You must also ensure that the new tenant completes a change of tenancy contract and returns it to us. You will be responsible for any electricity bills until this is completed.

What is the PSO levy?
PSO stands for Public Service Obligation levy. All electricity customers must pay this levy regardless of who their supplier is.
What are standing charges?
All electricity customers must pay this levy which helps maintain the country’s electricity infrastructure.
What are Additional Service Charges on a Low Voltage Maximum Demand customer bill?
These charges relate to Service Capacity, Low Power Factor and Maximum Demand Charge. These charges relate to terms in LVMD contracts.
